Portfolio

Ello! My Name is Gaurav Singh.
I am a Games Designer and this my living Portfolio.

About Me

A proper Ello! My name is Gaurav Singh, though I also go by any word that begins with a 'G'
I am student at the Columbus Collage of Art and Design working towards my BFA in Games Art & Design.
I have a primary focus in Games Design/Play Design & Ludology, with some additional practice in Programming, and Narrative Design.
I love games. The way they bring people together through joy has captivated me ever since my first locals. I wish to inspire that same joy in others through my creations.

Tech Demos

Multiplayer using VS

A small project where my objective was to create a functional multiplayer application using as little C# as possible and as much Unity Visual Scripting.I did this because at the time my classes at CCAD taught almost exclusively Unity Visual Script and I wanted to know what the limits and constraints of VS were. I thought the best way to accomplish this was to try and make a multiplayer application using only VS since in my mind I thought that would really take VS to it's extremes. In doing this I explored how Unity VS works, how it's tied to C# and more specifically to Monobehavior. How trying to get it to interact with other types of classes that are not Monobehavior can be challenging. With the project itself, it is a simple tank game where you and another player can shoot shells at each other and push a ball around. You can kill the other player and they will respawn will have the choice to respawn.

Custom Unity VS Nodes : Input System

Another small project where my objective was to create a unity package that people could import to add custom Unity Visual Scripting nodes that would recreate specific Input System methods regarding Input Actions.I did this because one of my classes had encouraged our usage of the new Input System and the usage of Input Actions but most students in that class only knew how to code using Unity Visual Scripting and the methods by which you can interact with Input Actions don't exist cleanly in VS. So, I created these custom nodes to bring those methods into VS for the rest of my class to be able to use.

Design Tests

Action Fight / Eltaria, the Trading Card Game

Action Fight and Explosion were both games that were originally designed to explore the relationship between constraint and fun. Would a game that is more constraining, be more fun?
Action Fight was that game

Explosion, the Trading Card Game

Explosion and Action Fight were both games that were originally designed to explore the relationship between constraint and fun. Would a game that is less constraining, be more fun?
The design goal of Explosion was to explore that less constraint side. How do we make the game feel as wild and freeing as possible while keeping a balanced play environment
